abstract : The Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) has been introduced in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) standardization. HetNet consists of a mix of macrocells and low-power nodes, such as femtocells in order to bring the network closer to end users. Femtocells are low-cost low-power user deployed access points, offloading data traffic using consumers’ broadband connection, and serving a dozen active users in homes or enterprises. However, as unplanned femtocell deployed in the cellular system, the increased amount of overlaying coverage areas introduce severe cross-tier interference. In this paper, we propose a novel power control scheme to mitigate interference in Macro-Femtocell HetNet. We design the power control of femtocell that can maintain the performance of the Femto User Equipment (FUE) and minimize the interference from femtocell to Macro User Equipment (MUE) by reducing power of femtocell. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) of the users.
